You will have ‘A’ level Science or BTEC in Applied Science, Engineering or equivalent. Having practical experience in fermentation and downstream processing or working in a technical environment would be a distinct advantage.

We have an exciting and unique opportunity for a Business Development Manager who will be responsible for developing new opportunities in both food and non-food markets to deliver profitable sales growth.

You will approach customers to identify customer needs, develop strong relationships with key decision makers to communicate new ideas and product opportunities. Having knowledge of enzymes and a
commercial awareness of the diagnostics/PCR market would be desirable.

This role is both technical and commercial, so a science degree is essential along with experience of setting up meetings with prospects and travelling to visit target customers in USA and Europe. You will work closely with our talented Marketing team to bring together market and industry intelligence to identify and approach new customers and markets.

Experience of business development, technical and consultative selling into technical markets is essential. An understanding of the biotechnology industry (life science, pharmaceutical, fine chemical, flavours, fragrance, food etc.) would be a distinct advantage.

You will be a fast learner, confident, highly driven for success along with the ability to think laterally to navigate multi-faceted technical solutions. You will need innate business acumen to ensure profitability and growth along with the flexibility to spend around 50% of your time travelling.

You and your team will have a proactive approach to working closely with our external sales team to support and help them to ensure every interaction within the sales and customer service environment underpins customer service excellence.

This role is primarily to carry out the manufacture of enzymes in a food grade environment and to carry out warehouse activities to ensure our products are despatched on time. You will need to have strong attention to detail and accuracy along with experience in following standard operating procedures, working with and maintaining/cleaning manufacturing equipment.

You will have a minimum of 2 GCSE’s grades A-C including Maths & English OR equivalent OR NVQ (L3) in Process or Manufacturing Operations or similar. Having a forklift truck licence is not essential but will give you a distinct advantage.

You will have a positive and ‘can do’ attitude, be able to work flexibly and change your normal hours or on a shift basis which will attract additional payment.

We are seeking a highly motivated and driven New Product Development Scientist to join our talented New Product Development team to work on growing our enzyme product portfolio to provide solutions to our customers’ needs.

This challenging role offers a unique opportunity to work as part of a customer focused NPD team as the high level Technical Lead responsible for successfully completing projects from enzyme identification to enzyme application. You will work closely with our marketing and sales teams in order to identify our customers’ needs and provide enzymatic solutions.

You must have either a Masters or PhD in biology, chemistry or biochemistry along with extensive practical (laboratory) experience in one or more of the following subjects: molecular cloning/bioinformatics, fermentation (bacterial or yeast), downstream processing and enzyme applications.

You will have excellent communication, planning and organisational skills; alongside the capacity to analyse situations, diagnose problems and produce logical, practical and cost effective solutions. You will have a questioning approach to your work, the ability to work flexibly and co-operatively within the New Product Development Team. Previous project management experience would be a distinct advantage in this role.
