Biocatalysts provides the technical expertise and facilities for the application of fermentation technology to enzyme manufacture from small-scale trial volumes of 3L through to the 20,000L production scale.

In 2012 Biocatalysts will be commissioning a 500L facility to expand our in-house production capacity. Biocatalysts use of proprietary media also permits the production of enzymes conforming to food-grade and Kosher requirements.

Biomass produced by fermentation can be processed using a wide variety of techniques and equipment at Biocatalysts. Our down-stream processing technology includes the application of standard industry methods together with novel technologies developed at Biocatalysts.

This provides our customers with a wide range of options for the specification requirements of the final enzyme product. For example, depending upon customer requirements and the scale of production, Biocatalysts can provide anything from simple spray-dried cell extracts to biochemically purified enzyme protein.
