Biocatalysts Ltd was first registered. Biocatalysts starts life in temporary accommodation at a dairy in West London as part of Grand Metropolitan.

1985

Welsh Development Agency offers incentive to relocate to Wales.

1986

Company is fully operational and providing enzymes to a range of customers not just Grand Metropolitan.

1989

Shell Ventures purchase Biocatalysts.

1991

Management buy out from Shell Ventures and Biocatalysts becomes a private limited company.

1995

William Salisbury becomes Chairman and Stuart West is appointed Managing Director.

1996

ISO 9001 Accreditation received.

1997

HACCP & Food GMP introduced.
Top 5 global food company audit passed with flying colours.

1998

First entered the European Forum & Wales Quality Management awards and won 'Best New Company'.

2000

Awarded 'Best Manufacturing Company' (beating Sony UK).
Investors in People Accreditation awarded.

2001

Outstanding Practice aaccreditation for Investors in People.

2002

Awarded 'Best SME Company' at Wales Quality awards.

2003

Awarded the Queen's Award for enterprise.

2004

Biocatalysts moves to a purpose built factory in Cefn Coed, Cardiff.
Launched our first Customer Satisfaction Survey.
HRH Prince Andrew, Duke of York visits Biocatalysts.

2005

Awarded 'Leadership Award' at Wales Quality awards.

2006

Joined AMFEP 'Association of Manufacturers & Federation of Enzyme Producers'.

2007

Chairman William Salisbury passed away.

ISO 9001:2008 Accreditation received.
