Managing Director's Health & Safety Policy Statement Introduction This Health and Safety Policy statement is made in accordance with section 2(3) of The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974. General Policy Biocatalysts has a commitment to all its employees with regards to high standards of health and safety, and welfare management in its design, production and facilities control activities with the ongoing and continuous improvement of its H&S Management System. Biocatalysts will comply with statutory requirements and take account of guidance from the Health and Safety Executive’s Regulations and Directives, Guides, Approved Codes of Practice and all other Standards required by virtue of the Company’s activities in providing a safe and healthy working environment. Health and Safety is an integral part of an effective and efficient organisation. Biocatalysts Health and Safety objective is to utilise risk control management to create incident free performance where employees, clients, contractors, visitors and members of the public are not exposed to hazards from its activities. It is the responsibility of the whole management team to implement this policy by providing:
Employee Responsibilities Every employee will have this Health and Safety policy statement communicated to them. It will be displayed on the Health and Safety Notice board and is also contained in the Employees’ Health and safety Manual. All Biocatalysts employees have a responsibility for the Health and Safety of themselves and all other company members. They are to ensure that any Health and Safety issue, no matter how small, is communicated to their line manager so remedial action can be carried out in a timely manner. This will ensure that the company will continually improve its Health and Safety performance. Continual Health and Safety improvement is an essential component of our Safety Management System and communication is the key to our successful Health and Safety culture. A safe and healthy working environment can only be achieved with the co-operation of all employees. Specific Management Responsibilities Overall responsibility for the Health and Safety policy rests with me however; I have delegated responsibility for its implementation to members of Biocatalysts management team and Staff as defined within the Health & Safety Organisational table supporting this policy. Also included as a supporting document to this policy is my Health and Safety Management Directive which dictates how we, as a company will achieve a safe working environment for all and pursue the continual improvement to our Health and Safety performance. This will be achieved by regular communication, and review of our Health and Safety Objectives and Targets. This Policy will be reviewed regularly to ensure its continuing suitability and effectiveness.
